Landestrost Castle

From 1573 to 1584 the castle was built as a representative residential construction in the "Weserrenaissance" style by Erich II. Until today, the castle has been modified several times.

Between 1985 and 1991 the castle has been renovated extensively, the reconstruction of the north wing was finished in 2014. Since 1997, the castle has been owned by the foundation Kulturregion. Many institutions are located in the main and adjoining buildings. Besides the local court there is also the factory for sparkling wine called Dupres, which started their production already in 1888 and is still producing there today.

The Department of Culture of the Hannover Region organizes cultural events in the castle and is located in the north wing. These events take place in the large ballroom or in the other, also elaborately restored, historical rooms.

The garden area has been redesigned according to its ancient concept and invites you to stay and stroll around the park, offering a wonderful view over the Leine river meadows. Neustadt is ideal for hiking, cycling or canoeing.
