Church Sigwardskirche

This church is truly special, because bishop Sigward of Minden had this small Romanesque church built as a proprietary church between 1129 and 1134. This church is home to the oldest church bell in Lower Saxony, which still rings every quarter of an hour. The far-traveled companion of Emperor Lothar III brought great fresco painters to Idensen, who painted the church’s inside according to the Byzantine model. This is truly a special treasure.
