Steinhuder Meer Nature Park

The water area forms the core of Nature Park Lake Steinhuder Meer. In addition, the Meerbruch meadows on the western shore and the dead moor in the east are immensely valuable areas. Of the total area of 420 square kilometers, approx. 18 % is under nature conservation and approx. 53 % under landscape protection. Without disturbing sensitive areas, the diversity of the nature park can be explored - on viewing platforms, adventure trails or on signposted hiking and cycling paths. The nature park is now recognised throughout Germany as a model for exemplary successful visitor management, and has won numerous awards.
