The official entry point for surfers and kiters

This is the perfect place for surfers and kite surfers on the Steinhuder Meer. Even without a surfing license you can surf in the demarcated surfing area. The best wind conditions prevail in spring and fall. The surf schools are happy to provide details.
In recent years, the surf beach has developed into a hotspot, especially for kite surfers.

Openings

The beach is accessible at all times.
For bird protection reasons, surfing on the Steinhuder Meer is only permitted from March 20 to October 31. Surfers and kitesurfers are still allowed on the water within the buoy-marked area of the surfing beach in Mardorf until November 15.
