Set beside the castle, the 1750 Baroque Amtsgarten enchants with its leafy arches and historic bastion remains.
The Amtsgarten, situated beside the castle, was originally laid out in 1750 as a magnificent Baroque garden. Today, this green retreat still preserves its historical charm through carefully maintained features such as the lush green vault, the hornbeam walkway and the remnants of the former fortress – including the South Bastion, the Erichstein and the old casemates. These architectural traces reveal the influence of both Italian and Dutch bastion design, giving the garden a distinctive character that connects art, history and nature in a unique way. With its elegant symmetry and tranquil atmosphere, the Amtsgarten invites visitors to wander through centuries of horticultural tradition. The blend of structured geometry and natural beauty creates an inspiring harmony, where history and landscape come together in perfect balance. Whether enjoying a quiet moment under the trees, exploring the historic remains or simply taking in the scenic views, the Amtsgarten offers an enchanting experience that reflects the cultural richness of the region.
