Immerse yourself in the fascinating world of the Barsinghausen monastery tunnel, one of the most exciting tourist highlights in the Hanover region.

Here you will not only experience history up close, but also a real adventure underground. The Klosterstollen is a living industrial monument to coal mining and offers unique insights into the hard life of miners over 100 years ago. Unlike a traditional museum, the Klosterstollen is a place of experience where you can discover history with your own senses. Each guided tour opens the doors to a time when coal mining shaped people's lives. Experienced mine guides provide exciting insights into the origins of coal, the working conditions underground and the technical developments in mining. With great attention to detail, they talk about the challenges faced by the miners and explain the historical background in an understandable way.

But that's not all: machines, conveyor belts and tools that have been faithfully preserved await you in the Klosterstollen, giving you a realistic impression of how strenuous, but also fascinating, working underground was.

The highlight of every visit is entering the tunnel. Equipped with a helmet and miner's lamp, you take a seat in a real mine car. The journey takes you around 1400 meters deep into the mountain. With every meter it gets cooler, the light fades and the atmosphere of the tunnel unfolds its special effect. You can hear the rattling of the wheels, the dripping of water on the walls and feel the damp air - an unforgettable experience that gives you an impression of the miners' everyday life. Once you arrive at the underground station, you can explore an extensive network of corridors and chambers. The Klosterstollen is an excursion destination for the whole family. There are interactive tours especially for children, which playfully explain how coal was formed and the conditions under which it was mined. Adults, on the other hand, can look forward to deeper insights into the technology and industrial history.

The guided tours take place on fixed dates or by appointment and can be conveniently booked online or on site. Group tours are also possible. Remember to wear weatherproof clothing and sturdy shoes - it's chilly underground! A helmet and lamp are provided on site.

Visit the Barsinghausen monastery gallery and experience an exciting journey into the past of mining. An underground adventure awaits you!
