Founded on 5 December 1980, the working group “Village Renewal Mardorf” laid the foundations for what became, three years later, the association “Dorfgemeinschaft Mardorf e.V.” with 67 founding members. Since then, this lively community association has played a vital role in shaping and preserving the charm of the lakeside village of Mardorf. Even in winter, when the landscape around Lake Steinhude rests under a gentle blanket of frost, the spirit of the Dorfgemeinschaft Mardorf e.V. remains vibrant. The association’s members continue to care for and enhance the Aloys-Bunge-Platz – a symbolic centrepiece of local pride and togetherness. Winter walks through the quiet village often lead here, where tradition meets community spirit in a warm and welcoming atmosphere.
